Get to Know Hibachi Buddha

Say hi to Arnell Moore, founder and head chef at Hibachi Buddha. Or should we say, he IS the Hibachi Buddha. Anyway, HB (for short) and his lovely wife (Hibachi Buddette?) who is the smiling face at Hibachi Buddha's front counter, are life and business partners, and run the restaurant together. But let's back up.....

The Origin Story

Hibachi Buddha didn't just appear out of nowhere! Hibachi Buddha was first conceived when Mrs. Buddha decided she was in the mood for some Asian food. As a loving and doting husband, Arnell sprang into action, cooking up a veritable cornucopia of proteins in decadent sweet, spicy and umami flavor combinations, with oversized shrimp, chicken cooked to perfection, and juicy beef slices, nestled in supple yet firm noodles and just-right sticky rice. And let's not forget the freshest of fresh vegetables- broccoli, peas and carrots in the fried rice, water chestnuts and chili peppers. Not only was Mrs. Hibachi over the moon, but so was everyone else when she posted pictures of the sumptuous feast on social media. "How can we get some of that!" was the general theme, and people started showing up at their door to ask if he could cook for their party or gathering!! And thus Hibachi Buddha was hatched, the personification of Asian-inspired food prepared to perfecting standards, with all natural ingredients, generous portions, and monumental flavor combinations. 

Hibachi Buddha was a smash hit on the catering scene, but this wasn't enough for the burgeoning Hibachi Buddha fan club (now known as Bachi Buddies).  They demanded (ok, maybe that's a strong word---kindly requested?) we find a brick and mortar establishment and put a pin on the map with the name "Hibachi Buddha: Good Food from a Good Dude" above it. We searched and searched until we arrived on our current location, a nice spot central to all points Williamsburg, Virginia on Old Towne Road (you can even ride your horse there). The current location permits us to offer Hibachi Buddha's signature foods on a takeout basis. 

The response has been INSANE! Since opening in mid July, our food has become a viral sensation in the Burg and throughout the Historic Triangle. Our restaurant only preps a certain amount of food (so quality can be maintained), and sells out completely on some days, especially our highly addictive eggrolls. In order to keep a flow to preparation, there are no phone orders (but you are welcome to call and see how inventory is looking), but with the help of this website, we are now able to take online orders! 

We welcome you to try us out, and experience the sensation of culinary Nirvana that comes when you see our food, start to eat it, and finish it (maybe) with a stuffed stomach!
